Mount Apo

Mount Apo is a dead volcano a few kilometers southwest of Davao City on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines . With 2954 meters is the highest mountain in the country. Apo is Filipino for "grandfather of the mountains". The volcano is sacred to the indigenous population.
On 9 May 1936 Mount Apo received by President Manuel Quezon status of national park , with an area of 808 km ².
