Davao is one of the city 's most important of the Philippines and the capital island of Mindanao. The city, although administratively independent, is geographically located in the Province of Davao del Sur, in the region of Davao.
It is also the largest city in the state in terms of area and one of the largest in the world, employing more than 2,400 km ². Its international airport and the harbor liven up a huge amount of goods. Like all major cities of the Philippines, Davao is independent of any province although there is usually grouped with Davao del Sur for statistical purposes. The city is also the capital of the Davao Region (Region XI). Davao has a population of 1.3 million inhabitants, which reaches two million during the day.
In recent years, the urban metropolis has been a rapid expansion , has emerged as a center of trade, investment and tourism in the southern Philippines. In fact the city has at the same time very attractive beaches (and is in close proximity to fascinating sites for diving), as well as mountain resort towns (nearby is the highest peak in the country, the Mount Apo ).
