The Lanzones Festival is an annual celebration of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest Island Camiguin. The town of Camiguin celebrates its third week of October, at the time of harvest fruit Lanzones.
The Lanzones is a tropical fruit found in the central-northern coast of Mindanao. The fruit is colored pale brown and the flesh is translucent. Lanzones ripen during the third week of October. The Camiguin is one of the largest sources of laziness in the Philippines, and the fruit is their main livelihood and most important industries. The local people of Mambajao, Camiguin and tourists are enjoying a weeklong celebration with various activities that show the cultural wealth of Camiguin. This contribution also of citizens to identify Mindanao as a cultural tourism destination. Some of them were dancing in the streets, the parade lanzones, Agri-cottage industry product exhibits, and beauty pageant (Miss Buahanan). Moreover, also watched the annual village beautification contest, indigenous sports, and other manifestations of local culture. Every festival, the houses, pole, and even people are ornamented from Lanzones.
Legends of the celebration
It is believed that the celebration began with a local legend about couples who wish to have children from the fairy tree lanzones.
