The Lumineers are a three-man American folk-rock - band from Denver, Colorado. The members are: Wesley Schultz (guitar), Jeremiah Fraites (drums); and Neyla Pekarek (cello). Their debut self-titled album was released on Dualtone Records on April 3, 2012, reaching number 8 on the Billboard 200. In December 2012, the debut album was certified gold in the United States, Canada and Ireland.
On December 5, 2012, The Lumineers were nominated for two awards Grammy, a Best New Artist and Best Americana Album Ho Hey one of the group's hits sounded in the movie: The good side of things (Silver Linings Playbook), Oscar nominated 8 (2013).
The group was founded in 2002 by guitarist and singer Wesley Schultz and drummer Jeremiah Fraites. The two grew up in Ramsey, New Jersey, and had been previously played in various bands. Schultz was the best friend of Fraites older brother Joshua had been, who had died at age 19 from an overdose of drugs. Together they processed the experience musically and appeared in the New York area.

After their lives in the east coast metropolis had become too expensive and they were moved to Denver, they were looking for someone who could assist with the cello. They found Neyla Pekarek, who is classically trained in several instruments, and formed a trio from then on. Their first gigs they had on the young stage of the Meadowlark clubs and they developed on their own toward folk-rock and Americana previous style. A first demo EP they made was completed in 2009, a second, they produced two years later and went on U.S. tour.
Her breakthrough they had in late 2011, when her song Hey Ho in the TV series Hart of Dixie was used. They made a record deal with Dualtone Records and released in April 2012 their debut album The Lumineers. It debuted at number 77 of the U.S. album charts , and following the publication of Ho Hey as a single, it rose until September 11th place The single reached number 13 and platinum status.
After a sold-out club tour in the U.S. and an appearance at SXSW they came as opening act for The Civil Wars in the fall to Europe and also played some of his own shows in Germany. Single and album were released in October in Europe and they were successful only in England, and later in many other countries in the charts.
