Megan Young is Miss World 2013

The representative of the Philippines, Megan Young, has been named Miss World 2013 at the conclusion of the ceremony held in the Indonesian island of Bali, in which candidates from 127 countries participated.
The first runner-up was the French Marine Lorphelin , and in third place was the Ghanaian Naa Okailey. The main sextet completed the Ibarbia Elena Spanish, Brazilian and Gibraltar Frantz Sancler Kharbouch Maroua, who entered the finals for the popular vote.



Young, 23, inherited the crown of Chinese Xiayu Wen, who won last year before his audience. The Filipina beauty, film direction student, was speechless after his appointment, although it began to mourn as often happens in these events. With this victory, the Philippines opened his locker crowns in this contest, the first edition was held in 1951.

Young, who was born in America and at age 10 moved to the Philippines, has always been among the favorites to take the crown and it won the local designers parade, held last Tuesday.

The winner of Miss World, traditionally moves to London, where the headquarters of the organization of the event, will spend his year of reign visiting charity projects and social projects around the world.

The end of the contest, held at the Bali Convention Center, was watched live by over 200 million viewers worldwide , according to organizers. This edition of the contest has been marked by protests from radical Muslims, forcing the organization to move headquarters from Jakarta to Bali end.

In addition, candidates for the Miss World crown had to replace the popular bikini for a one piece bathing suit accompanied by "sarong", the traditional Indonesian sarong, during the swimsuit parade due to pressure from conservative Islamist organizations .
