The film "No Other Woman" has been declared as the highest grossing Filipino film of all time.This gross of Php210 million in just two weeks and still showing on its 3rd week. The TV and Movie Director, Ruel Bayani is the main man of this film. Some of his famous creations are: Mula sa Puso; Tayong Dalawa; Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin and recently launched, Budoy.
Although this film received an PG-13 rating by MTRCB it was graded an "A" by the Cinema Evaluation Board of the Philippines because of moral lessons that can be grasped by audience.
Why is this movie a talk of the town right now? Not only, females are interested with these but also gays. Bekimon already made his own version of "No Other Beki" viewable in youtube.
The plot of No Other Woman is no longer new to us. We have seen numerous adaptation of a typical love triangle that constantly has a happy ending in which the legal wife always wins. However, the movie trailer showed in TV during the commercial gap have caught our attention through Carmi Martin giving advice to her daughter (Cristine), and we quote, "Ang mundo ay parang Quiapo, maraming snatcher, maaagawan ka, lumaban ka!" Then showing Cristine sobbing, a classic reaction of a martyr Filipina wives when they learned of their husband's infidelity. The mother continues to tell her daughter by now to pack-up Lucy Torres and take out Gretchen Barretto in red stilettos. From this scene, we already claimed that this is a film worth watching for and millions of us did.
The actors portraying the main characters are acknowledged as the hottest actors of their generations. The three main cast considered this as their most challenging roles. Most distinctively to Cristine Reyes who is known for being fearless and "jologs"(not in style) who needs to act as simple, naive and rich. She mentioned in one of her interviews, "ang hirap magpaka-sosyal." While Anne Curtis being agressive in most of her characters in tv and film in many different ways has been offered a lot of times. She still admitted that this is the most dramatic and mature character she ever portrayed. On the other hand, Derek Ramsey being perceived as the ladies-man in show business played safe to his role.
While watching this movie, you will find yourself relating to either characters. Most of the audience had their own stories to tell, Stories that are very similar to the plot of this movie.
Each of them enjoyed the movie by relating their real-life situations with the character. It's either the wife who cheated at, the unfaithful husband, the mistress or even the minor characters in the story like the mother of Charmaine (played by Cristine)or the friend and confidante.
Filipinos are used to define a good movie by shedding a tear with it and relating to the character
despite the ineffectiveness of the actors or how the film was done as a whole. Anyways, watching a movie is our sort of enjoyment and relaxation and not to take it seriously as all critics would do.
