El Nido Palawan

El Nido in Northern PalawanPhilippines is a small fishing and port town with 36,191 inhabitants (as of 1 May 2010).
The name El Nido is from the many swallows' nests (Spanish nide / nido), which are collected in the surrounding caves for the famous Chinese soup. In the village there is a campus of the Western Philippines University and Palawan State University.

Tourism plays a significant role, so there is a dense network with many hotels in the price range from the simple to comfortable, restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and several supermarkets. Only 12% of those traveling through remains for a few days in the city, most of the tourists going into the luxury resorts on the islands. Popular day trips with a native outrigger boat ( Bangka ) lead in the Bacuit archipelago with its islands and beaches, or to Cadlao Iceland with a 609 m high summit, the Pinagbuyutan Iceland , with a secluded beach and a 370 m high, almost sheer, limestone and Vigan Iceland (Iceland Snake) with a serpentine sandbar.

In 1998, the area in front of El Nido was Bacuit archipelago in the South China Sea or West Philippine Sea declared a marine protected area. The coral -reef was due to the effects of Cyanidfischens largely destroyed in most places.
