Zambales

Zambales is a province on the island of Luzon in the Philippines; it is one of the administrative regions of Central Luzon. Provincial capital is Iba, a population of 755,621 (census 1 May 2010) people living in 13 municipalities. The province of Zambales includes one independent city and 13 municipalities. The city Olongapo City is an autonomous county town.

Olongapo is an independent city highly-urbanized city (HUC) of the Philippines, geographically located in the province of Zambales, in the region of Central Luzon. The city, although they geographically part of the province and being included in the statistics on this, it is administratively self-reliant.

History
About the history of the province in the pre-colonial era relatively little is known, mainly the oral tradition stories of the people of the Aeta, and the Negritos provide information. From the myths of the indigenous people of the Negritos is apparent that their origin to the island of Sulawesi is connected. It can be assumed that since the first millennium trade contacts with the States in East - and Southeast Asia existed. Zambales has 173 kilometres (107 mi) of beaches, with coral reefs, dive spots, surfing areas, hotels and day-use beach huts. The province is approximately a 3 to 4-hour drive from Manila, depending on traffic.
